It integrates and harmonizes measurements collected from a wide range of networks and institutions worldwide, providing open access to quality-controlled data in a standardized format. Serving as the international reference database for in situ soil moisture, the ISMN supports scientific research, satellite calibration and validation, hydrological and climate modeling, and environmental monitoring.
