{"title":"ICP Integrated Monitoring","id":{"prefix":"https:\/\/deims.org\/networks\/","suffix":"3f177430-eae5-4da2-926e-4a560dd262d6"},"type":"network","created":"2022-12-07T09:35:29+01:00","changed":"2026-08-06T14:31:17+02:00","attributes":{"abstract":"The International Cooperative Programme on Integrated Monitoring of Air Pollution Effects on Ecosystems (ICP IM) monitors the ecological effects of atmospheric pollutants. By doing this, reliable data is obtained that can be used in environmental assessment, modelling, and decision-making. The integrated monitoring of ecosystems refers to simultaneous measurement of the physical, chemical, and biological properties of an ecosystem. This is done over time, across compartments, and at the same locations. ICP IM monitors the effects of atmospheric pollutants such as nitrogen, sulphur, tropospheric ozone, heavy metals, and persistent organic substances. The comprehensive long-term data is also important for observing ecosystem impacts of climate change. \r\n\r\nICP IM is a body under the Convention on Long-range Transboundary Air Pollution (CLRTAP), also referred to as the UNECE Air Convention, and is a collaborative programme involving fifteen European countries. There are currently 48 active monitoring stations in the full IM Level 3 monitoring programme. More countries are about to join the new less intense extended Level 1 and Level 2 monitoring programmes. Note that most IM sites are not yet on DEIMS - the links above include data from many more sites.
