The Bosque San Mart\u00edn Experimental Station of the Austral University of Chile , is probably one of the oldest long-term study sites in the country. Scientific research is developed from multiple disciplines such as biology, evolution, botany and zoology, among others, applied to forest ecology, climate change, functional ecology and mammalian ecology. In some areas, the deciduous oak (Nothofagus obliqua) species is abundant, representing one of the best preserved remnants in the southern distribution of this species, with specimens over 35 meters high and about one and a half meters in diameter.
