The area of the basin is 101.5 ha. The rest of the infrastructure requiring measurements is carried out in nearby R\u016bg\u0161teli\u0161kis village 55.46339 26.00427 and its surrounding forest stands.\r\n\r\nAccording to long-term AIMS data, the average annual air temperature in the area is 6.9 \u00b1 0.8 \u00b0C and the annual precipitation is 680 \u00b1 100 mm. The growing season lasts on average 189 days, with an average temperature of 13.2 \u00b1 0.6 \u00b0C and precipitation of 420 \u00b1 94 mm. Based on the analysis of meteorological data from the monitoring station (Augustaitis et al., 2018; Augustaitis, 2019), a statistically significant increase in annual temperature of 0.043 \u00b0C per year was identified.\r\nThe area is covered by multi-aged and multi-layered natural or seminatural mixed coniferous forest stands, dominated by Scots pine and Norway spruce with the admixture of Silver and Downy birches.\r\nSoil properties vary from deep (\u003E120 cm) haplic arenosol, with a high proportion of sand (~90%) covering the majority of the area. At the eastern side of the basin, which has higher altitudes, the typical for this basin glavioacvalic accumulation forms transfer into gravel sand. Glacioaquatic accumulation forms with sand, gravel and stones are typical of the Aukstaitija IMS catchment. In this area, LT-01A and LT-01B, bores No 1 and 2 for ground water (GW) studies and lysimeters for soil water (SW) collection are arranged. Soil water samples were collected at 20 cm, with a sampling period of 3?4 times per vegetation period. The surface area of the plate type lysimeter was 1000 cm2. With a decrease in altitude, these glacioaquatic accumulation forms transfer into marsh accumulation forms with organic sediments where IP LT-01C and bore No 3 are located.","vegetation":"Coniferous multi-layered forest stands are prevailing in the basin, which are mainly pine trees with a mixture of spruce. Those stands usually have a second and third tree layer with abundant under layer vegetation. Spruce stands are also of complicated structure. The second and third spruce layer with abundant under layer vegetation are common. Remarkable amounts of territory are occupied by mixed conifer-deciduous or mixed conifer forests. Pure birch stands in more wet habitats in the vicinity of Versminis river source can also be found. According to the forest stand age they are old pure overmature or with accompanying forest stands of several age classes.
