A site is a location where the observation and/or experimentation takes place. Most of the sites are characterised by a design which is setup to study and analyse ecosystem processes in the field. Sites are described by their biotic and abiotic characteristics as well as by the admistrative setup. This includes the infrastructure (e.g. measurement towers or experimental design) as well as the research topics studies. If you want to learn more about the characteristics of the site you can access the description Network Metadata Model (NMM).

The metadata of the networks are linked to site(s) collected in the respective location as well as the site manager or principal investigator associated with the site.
