Description
The Felsnerwiese is a 4.6-hectare grassland area in the Middle Styrian Enns Valley, located in the municipality of Irdning-Donnersbachtal in the district of Liezen. The plot is situated within the Natura 2000 site ESG 41, „Enns Valley between Liezen and Niederstuttern“ (AT2229002/VS). The area has been managed in the same way for 35 years (mowed 4-5 times a year and approx. 6 times a year liquid manure is applied, since 1990 manure application near soil surface). This form of management is characteristic of the Enns valley and is well-suited as a reference area for ecological comparative studies. As part of a pilot study, the following Standard Observations will be tested in 2026: SOBIO_014 (flying insects using a Malaise trap), SOBIO_017 (vegetation composition), SOBIO_018 (acoustic monitoring), and SOBIO_022 (eDNA soil). SOBIO_014, SOBIO_017 and SOBIO_022 will be compared with a nearby ecologically managed area (organic grasland sampling location Moarhof). In addition the atmospheric Standard Observation SOATM_024 (above-ground biomass) is included in the pilot study.
