The Mountain Renosterveld of the Roggeveld is situated in the Fynbos Biome and is transitional in nature with a host of Karooid elements belonging to the Succulent Karoo Biome

Natural recovery of vegetation was measured annually for 10 years after a fire destroyed a large area of mountain renosterveld vegetation in 1999. The vegetation recovery is now measured at 5 year intervals in order to understand successional processes and provide guidance on the management of the vegetation type for farmers and conservation managers.
In 1999 a fire destroyed a large area of land in the Roggeveld. Natural recovery of vegetation was measured yearly for 10 years and will be measured every five years thereafter.
