Method Description
Foliage was sampled from (pre-)dominant trees of Norway spruce (Picea abies (L.) H. Karst.) and European beech (Fagus sylvatica L.) at the intensively monitoring plots IP2 on the slope (SCODE =5001-5106) and IP3 (SCODE= 5382- 5441) on the plateau. A set of the selected trees was sampled each year. In case of disturbance or low vitality, new sample trees in close vicinity to prior ones were chosen. Sampling was conducted from August to October. For spruce, the current year (C) and previous year (P) needles were sampled.
