Daily plot level (micro meteorological) data at Climoor field site in Clocaenog Forest 1998-2015

Automated plot level (micro-met) measurements have been recorded since 2008. Micro-met data between 1997 and 2008 have been collected as detailed below and in the data. Soil temperature is measured with T107 sensor forms Campbell Scientific at 5, 10 and 20 cm soil depth. Soil moisture has been measured using different methods over the years. It is currently measured using TDR sensors (CS616 from Campbell Scientific, volumetric water content, m3/m3), located sloping from surface to 10 cm down the soil profile. These were installed in 2008. Prior to this, manually measurements using a ML-2 theta probe from Delta-t were carried out. The frequency of sampling varied, but is detailed in the data.

Sensor data are sampled every minute and an hourly average is logged. Data quality control was performed using basic graphic tools in excel to visually examine the data and trends for all measurements. Although this method seems less exact than setting prescribed limits that data must fit within, it does allow for human interpretation and memory of conditions at the site ? for example, an automated limit in a script will fail to remember if it was a particularly cold week, etc.
