Description
Passive Acoustic Monitoring (PAM) is a rapidly developing monitoring method for several animal taxa, offering the possibility to observe and understand ecosystems through sound. PAM can also be used to study sounds underwater or in the soil but here we focus on terrestrial aboveground vocalizations of animals. This protocol is based on the Lifeplan audio recording protocol version 2 (Farrell et al. 2024) and aims to summarize the key principles, methodologies, and considerations for long term PAM implementation.
