General Characteristics, Purpose, History
The Vallon de Roche Noire is equipped for monitoring of seasonnally frozen ground. Many ecological survey plots of the SAJF are distributed at various altitudes and aspects in the catchment. Seasonal frost is measured on 6 profiles at 10, 30 and 50 cm depth. All profiles are situated on ecological plots. Subsurface temperature is also measured on some 20 other ecological plots by SAJF. A snow measurement station of the MeteoFrance/Nivose network is operated since 2015 at the midpoint of the catchment.
Experimental soil temperature profiles were installed in summer 2012 on six ecological survey plots. A snow measurement station of the MeteoFrance/Nivose network is operated since octobre 2015 near one of the profiles.
