Devonian sandstone
Vegetation
Scots pine Pinus sylvestris stand,with sparse Juniperus communis and Picea abies undergrowth. Forest floor vegetation was dominated by Vaccinium myrtillus, V. vitis-idaea and Melampyrum pratense. Moss cover consisted mainly of Hylocomium splendens and Pleurozium schreberi.
