Site Description
The site consists of “orographic islands” in Central Mediterranean basin, along the Apennines mountain range. Since 1993, vegetation is detected at six high elevation permanent plots (research station of Mount Sevice, Mount Velino) and (since 2005) at additional 55 plots along two elevation transects (SW slope of Mount Morrone), including primary and secondary grasslands, beech forests and alpine tundra. Since 2014, micro-climate data are continuisly registered at the high elevation station,
