Namaqua National Park is situated in the Succulent Karoo Biome. The Skilpad Wildflower Reserve section of the Park is managed for mass flower displays while the remainder of the Park is managed as a conservation area.

History
The Skilpad Wildflower Reserve lies within the Namaqua National Park, a protected area that runs from the Kamiesberg Mountains down to the West Coast of Namaqualand protecting the Succulent Karoo Biome flora and fauna. This park will eventually include a large Marine Protected Area into the Atlantic Ocean
